Allen Morgan's principal focus is on two major investment areas:
enterprise software applications and infrastructure, particularly innovative
solutions that enhance knowledge-worker productivity, as well as on start-ups in
the area of consumer internet services, interactive entertainment, online advertising and new media.
Allen's investments include BlackArrow, DECA, Electric Cloud, Jobster, Pluck, Slide, Snap, Tagged and Zenprise.
Allen's notable investments include Jotspot (acquired by
Google ), PlanetOut, Serious Magic (acquired by
Adobe) and Varsity Group.
Allen has spent 25 years counseling entrepreneurs throughout the startup process, first as a well-known Silicon Valley lawyer and,
since 1999, as a managing director at Mayfield. Prior to joining Mayfield, Allen was a partner with two renowned Silicon Valley law
firms, Latham & Watkins and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. In his career, he has closed more than 750 venture capital financings,
mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and other public offerings.
Allen earned an undergraduate degree (summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) from Dartmouth College, a second bachelor's degree and master's
degree from Oxford University (Christ Church) and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
